Q: How did you
decide to be a writer?
Jennifer:
I have always enjoyed writing stories since the time I was in grade
school. Whenever I had a writing assignment, I was always very happy
because I enjoyed writing. I remember that the teacher would read my
stories out to the class. I continued writing stories, and in high school
I worked on the school newspaper.
Q. Tell us your latest
news!
Jennifer:
I am busy promoting my new book in the series ‘The Animals of Sycamore
Woods’. I have also started writing Volume Two in this series.
Q. When you were
a child, did you enjoy reading books?
Jennifer:
I enjoyed reading mysteries. My favorite mysteries were the “Nancy Drew”
mysteries.
Q. Where were you
born?
Jennifer:
I was born in Jamaica, West Indies. When I became a teenager, I moved to
Brooklyn, New York. I have also spent ten years living in England before
returning to the United States
Q. Is there a
particular theme that appears in all your stories?
Jennifer:
I believe the most important concept to instill in a child is that they
should have a character that is pleasing to God. The stories focus on the
development of Godly character through the parables and other teachings of
Jesus.
Q. Do you do
other types of writing?
Jennifer:
I write mainly children's’ stories, but I have also written poems.
Q. Do you have
other hobbies?
Jennifer:
Yes! I enjoy walking through the woods while praying and meditating. I
especially get my inspiration for stories when I am walking.
Q. How did you
decide to write Christian titles?
Jennifer:
I usually write and speak about the things which are foremost on my mind
and most important to me, topics about Christianity are priorities in my
life.
Q. Do you feel
Christian books are experiencing a “rebirth”?
Jennifer:
I feel Christian books are experiencing a revival because we are living in
a time when the world is searching for answers and the answers cannot be
found in the usual things.
Q. Do you study
a special Bible passage prior to writing a book?
Jennifer: In the series which I am
writing, the stories are based on the parables of Jesus so I spend a
considerable amount of time reading and meditating on the scriptures.
Q. Are there
Christian themes or Christian issues you want to address through your
writing?
Jennifer:
My goal is to focus on teaching good values and morals. Kindness,
forgiveness and sharing are taught in a fun way.
Q. Do you see
writing as a long term career?
Jennifer:
I feel that writing is what I am meant to do and I hope it will be a great
career for me to pursue.
